Indications:
Fuzapladib Sodium for Injection is indicated for the management of clinical signs associated with acute onset of pancreatitis in dogs.
Dosage and Administration:
For Dogs :
Maintenance Dose Range:
0.01 – 0.08 mg/kg/day
Required dose typically increases over time

Administration Instructions:
Administer orally with or without food; if vomiting occurs on an empty stomach, give with food

If a dose is missed, give it as soon as remembered; if close to next dose, skip the missed dose — do not double dose
Most pets will need additional glucocorticoid supplementation, especially during times of stress
Wash hands after administering this medication
Mechanism of Action:
Fludrocortisone acetate is a synthetic mineralocorticoid that acts on the kidney to promote sodium retention and potassium excretion, thereby regulating electrolyte and water balance in the body . It also possesses some intrinsic glucocorticoid activity, which may reduce the need for additional glucocorticoid supplementation in some patients .
Pharmacokinetics:
Absorption: Rapidly and completely absorbed after oral administration
Onset of action: 1-2 hours
Peak blood level: 4-8 hours
Protein binding: 70-80% bound to serum proteins
Half-life in dogs: 30 minutes (IV administration)
Precautions:
1.his is a prescription drug and must be used under veterinary supervision
2.Off-label use: This medication is not FDA-approved for use in animals; it is used according to veterinary directions
3.Do not stop abruptly — gradual withdrawal may be necessary to avoid adrenal insufficiency
4.Electrolytes (sodium and potassium) and kidney values should be monitored regularly:
Initially: every 1-2 weeks
Once stabilized: every 3-6 months
5.Dogs may require increasing doses over time to maintain normal electrolyte levels
6.Salt supplementation is no longer routinely recommended as it is not very effective
7.If a dog develops signs of hyperadrenocorticism at usual doses, first withdraw any additional glucocorticoid supplementation before considering dose reduction
8.Keep out of reach of children
