For the treatment of canine congestive heart failure (CHF) caused by:
Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM)
Chronic valvular disease (CVD / mitral valve insufficiency)
Dosage:
For Dogs
Recommended dosage: 0.25 – 0.5 mg pimobendan per kg body weight, divided into two daily doses
(every 12 hours)

Note: The daily dose should be divided into two equal doses administered approximately 12 hours apart (e.g.,morning and evening).

Administration Instructions:
1.TAdminister orally, preferably one hour before feeding (on an empty stomach)
2.Tablets may be given whole or crushed and mixed with a small amount of food
3.Do not split tablets unless using a proper tablet splitter to ensure dose accuracy
4.Treatment is typically long-term and should not be discontinued abruptly

Mechanism of Action:
Pimobendan is a dual-action inodilator:
Positive inotropic effect: Increases myocardial contractility by sensitizing cardiac troponin C to calcium ions
Vasodilatory effect: Inhibits phosphodiesterase III, leading to vasodilation and reduced cardiac afterload

Adverse Reactions:
In rare cases:
Gastrointestinal upset (vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia)
Increased heart rate or arrhythmias
Lethargy
Very rare:
Hypersensitivity reactions (rash, facial swelling)
Most reactions are mild and reversible upon dose adjustment or discontinuation

Precautions:
1.This is a prescription drug and must be used under veterinary supervision
2.Not recommended for use in dogs with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) or aortic stenosis
3.Use with caution in dogs with diabetes mellitus
4.Do not exceed the recommended dosage
5.Keep out of reach of children
6.Not for use in humans

Discontinuation:
Caution should be exercised when used concomitantly with:
Calcium channel blockers (e.g., diltiazem, verapamil)
Beta-blockers (e.g., propranolol, atenolol)
Diuretics (e.g., furosemide) – monitor for electrolyte imbalance
